The Undergraduate Certificate in Missional Congregational Leadership is a missionally driven, interdisciplinary certificate program that equips students to understand global diversity as an integral part of the development of missional congregations and cultural transformation. The study of Missional Congregational Leadership is devoted to a practical understanding of doing missional ministry. Students are challenged and taught to apply courses in missional congregations to their participation and leadership in local congregational development.
This course of study keeps pace with western civilization's discontinuous cultural change and prepares the student to lead in influential ways for Jesus Christ instead of following change and merely conforming to it. Further, this academic emphasis is also experientially rich. Students therefore, learn and experience how to sow biblical truth into the secularized soil of diverse cultural contexts throughout the world. Personal, spiritual, and cultural transformation is the harvest of Biblical truth.

What Will I Study?
We offer the most comprehensive approach to leading congregations into the mission of God.
Examines the biblical theological foundations of God's plan for global redemption throughout the Old and New Testament. The student will explore the eternal purpose of God for humanity, the state of those who have not heard the gospel, and the application of the missional mandate to various cultures.
Examines the primary considerations in determining what constitutes a missional church. Special attention will be given to understanding the foundational theological principles that guide all missional churches and the core practices that stem from these principles. Students will evaluate past and current church experiences in light of these principles and practices in order to identify areas of needed transformation, both personally and in ministry.
Introduces students to reflective practice within congregational dynamics. The student will understand the various ways in which the missional community can adapt in an environment of discontinuous change. It will focus on the leadership dynamics necessary to navigate change.
Prepares students to arrive at the areas of needed transformation they previously identified in the prerequisite. Students will be equipped to lead change, both in experiencing personal transformation, and in accomplishing congregational transformation, in order to transition an existing church to become a missional church. Prerequisite: Principles & Practices of Missional Congregations
A survey of the lives and ministries of missional leaders in church history. Drawing upon this foundation, students will identify characteristics and practices of effective missional leaders and formulate principles of effective missional leadership. Students will be challenged to examine their own lives and practices in light of these principles and identify areas of needed personal transformation.
Scripture describes The Kingdom of God is inherently ethnically diverse, yet 80% of all Evangelical churches are racially segregated. This course prepares students for missional ministry in the 21st century, which must be ethnically inclusive in order to be effective. Special attention will be given to identifying, understanding, and appreciating differences between various world cultures and to developing a multi-ethnic theology. Students will draw upon this foundation to identify areas of needed transformation, both in their personal experience and in their ministries. Students will develop and propose steps to lead this change.
