The Graduate Certificate in New Testament Greek Language & Exegesis moves from an introduction to Koine Greek to study in grammar, syntax and vocabulary to grammatical translation, exegisis and intrepretative precision. The program is equivalent to four semesters of Greek study at a Bible college or seminary. Certificate graduates will be able to do exegesis from the Greek New Testament, utilize secondary sources, be conversant with exegetical tools, and interpret the scriptures from a missional perspective.
The student who lives missionally in the world must be biblically grounded. Biblical foundation is established by encountering and engaging the biblical text on its terms. This underscores the need to understand approaches to reading and studying Scripture, its languages, its genres, and its message of redemption. Students who complete the Graduate Certificate in New Testament Greek Language & Exegesis will have mastery of Koine Greek grammar and vocubulary, develop competence in reading and translating selected New Testament texts, and develop skills in analyzing and exegeting the Greek New Testament.

What Will I Study?
We offer the most comprehensive approach to studying the scriptures in the mission of God.
The Christian scriptures hold the key to the understanding and the praxis of God’s mission. This course examines issues related to the historical context of the biblical text, the role of the interpreter’s social context, and the location of mission in understanding the Bible and participating in the mission of God in today’s multi-cultural and multi-religious context.
In this course students will be introduced to Koine Greek, including the alphabet, key vocabulary, and basic grammar for the initial study of the language. This course will suffice as an introduction, but is also preparatory for further study.
In this course students will continue their introduction to Koine Greek into the remaining initial elements of Greek grammar and syntax. The goal is to provide students with the full scope of the Greek language and with enough vocabulary to engage the New Testament functionally.
In the third course, students expand their knowledge of vocabulary, grammar and syntax through weekly readings and assignments that focus on parsing, translation, and exegetical questions. Students develop a stronger command of grammar and begin practicing the study of the Greek New Testament.
In this course students will deepen their knowledge of Koine Greek beyond the basic grammatical and syntactical categories and introductory short-hand. Having provided students with the full scope of the Greek language in the basic Greek courses, this one attempts to provide students with added grammatical and interpretative precision.
This course employs an exegetical methodology to sample biblical texts. Includes the use of commentaries on the Greek text and other exegetical tools. The goal is to train the student to be able to do Greek exegesis from the Greek New Testament and the utilization of secondary sources.
