What Will I Study?
We offer the most comprehensive approach to serving by participating in the mission of God.
Examines the biblical theological foundations of God's plan for global redemption throughout the Old and New Testament. The student will explore the eternal purpose of God for humanity, the state of those who have not heard the gospel, and the application of the missional mandate to various cultures.
This course explores the spiritual dimension of missional engagement in the post-Christendom world. Students will create a personal spiritual development (or soul care) plan for their selves, their team and engaging a wider community. Resources will include readings, video interviews with practitioners, creative spiritual practices, and the development of a spiritual development plan.
This class will enable you to develop an ethnographic approach to understanding the worldviews of non-Christians. You will create an ethnography based on personal interviews focused on a specific cultural group you wish to explore. This ethnography will lead to a variety of approaches for evangelism in the context of diverse 21st century cultures. The study of a dialogical method of sharing your faith will enable you to customize your approach based on the worldview of your audience.
When God started his narrative of redemption for humanity through Israel, he called Abram and his family and put them on mission together. The goal of this course is to provide the framework of how God is continuing to use the family as a primary community to embody his message and image to local neighborhoods.
So what is the essence of following Jesus into the world? Since Jesus has sent each of us to join in serving in the mission of God, how do each of us uniquely live that out, and how do we equip other believers to do the same? The course engages the topic around the biblical themes of redemption, reconciliation, restoration, and renewal. Students move beyond a one-sided, soul-centered gospel to living out faith in context -- growing as a culture maker in the image of Christ while being a disciple-maker. Mission-shaped disciplemaking embraces the new life for all creation that Jesus brings -- restoring the environment, renewing cultures and remaking peoples by offering healing and hope.
