About the Department

The Department of Emerging Leadership takes the student from the biblical command to make disciples, through theological reflection and contemporary cultural analysis of emerging generations, to missional action within cultures of emerging generations.

A highly experienced international faculty will guide each student through this journey of greater biblical, cultural, and contextual comprehension, personal transformation, and missional fruitfulness.

 

Areas of Study

The Department of Emerging Leadership offers students a variety of courses, including:

  • Urban Youth and College Students:  Courses include youth ministry for everyday life, collegiate ministries, the youth leader, emerging generations culture, and leading youth ministry.
  • Disciplemaking:  Courses include missional spirituality, mission-shaped disciplemaking, contextualized disciplemaking, transformational disciplemaking, and the art of telling Bible stories.

 

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the Bachelor of Ministry will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of various philosophies, approaches, and methods for disciplemaking and emerging generations’ ministry.
  • Devise contextualized systems and processes for disciplemaking and youth ministries for a variety of cultural contexts.
  • Defend your personal approach to disciplemaking and emerging generations’ ministry.
  • Apply a process of disciplemaking and ministry in a context so that it is both Biblically faithful and practically relevant.

Students who complete the Master of Ministry will be able to:

  • Compare and contrast various philosophies and approaches to discipleship and emerging generations’ ministry.
  • Design and implement systems and processes for disciplemaking and youth ministries for a variety of cultural and urban contexts.
  • Critique any number of competing theologies and methodologies of disciplemaking and ministry.
  • Design and justify a personal approach to disciplemaking.
  • Implement a disciplemaking and ministry strategy that is both Biblically faithful and contextually relevant.
