About the Department

The Department of Urban Mission takes the student from the Biblical and theological foundations for reaching the cities through the diversity of ethnic, generational, religious, geographic, and cultural contexts and challenges urban ministers face.

A highly experienced international faculty with both academic and practical experience guides each student through this journey of greater Biblical, cultural and contextual comprehension, personal transformation, and practical missional fruitfulness.

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the Bachelor of Ministry in Urban Mission Studies will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of various philosophies, strategies, and methods in the disciplines of urban and community development.
  • Devise contextualized urban mission strategies for a variety of cultural, ethnic, generational, and religious urban contexts.
  • Develop processes for transformational disciplemaking in a variety of urban settings and with diverse peoples.
  • Defend your personal urban mission approach.
  • Apply an urban mission strategy that is both Biblically faithful and practically relevant.

Students who complete the Master of Ministry in Urban Mission Studies will be able to:

  • Compare and contrast various philosophies, strategies and methods in the fields of urbanization and community development.
  • Design and implement a variety of urban mission strategies for diverse cultural, generational, ethnic, and religious contexts.
  • Evaluate and critique any number of competing urban mission philosophies and methodologies.
  • Develop and implement processes for transformational disciplemaking in a variety of urban settings and with diverse peoples.
  • Design and justify a personal approach to urban mission.
  • Implement a cultural and contextual urban mission strategy that is both Biblically faithful and practically relevant.
