About the Department

The Department of Missional Living takes the student from the biblical call and command, through theological reflection and contemporary cultural analysis, to missional action. The student engages multiple domains of human life and work.

A highly experienced international faculty will guide each student through this journey of greater cultural and contextual comprehension, personal transformation, and missional fruitfulness.

 

Areas of Study

The Department of Missional Living offers students a variety of courses, including:

  • Family Life and Community Relationships: Courses in missional living, living as a family on mission, missional practice for everyday life, the church and missional communities.
  • Multihousing Ministry:  Learning how to serve and function missionally within an apartment community
  • Mission and Sports:  Courses on sports management, everyday sports ministry, the sociology, economics, finances, law, and marketing of sports.
  • Mission and the Arts:  Learning how to live missional in artists communities and / or serve as a missional artist
  • Missional Military Ministry:  Learning how to advocate and implement missional efforts among the military

 

Learning Outcomes

Students who complete the Bachelor of Ministry will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of various philosophies, approaches, and methods for missional living.
  • Devise contextualized missional strategies and ministries for a variety of cultural contexts.
  • Defend your personal approach to missional living and cultural engagement.
  • Apply a missional living theology in a context so that it is both Biblically faithful and practically relevant.

Students who complete the Master of Ministry will be able to:

  • Compare and contrast various philosophies and approaches to missional living.
  • Design and implement a variety of missional living strategies and ministries for a variety of cultural contexts.
  • Critique any number of competing theologies and methodologies of missional living.
  • Design and justify a personal approach to missional living and cultural engagement.
  • Implement a missional living strategy that is both Biblically faithful and contextually relevant.
