Welcome
The Department of Behavioral Health & Rehabilitation provides a solid foundation for students to become involved in caring for those with mental health, substance abuse, and disability issues. The Department of Behavioral Health & Rehabilitation program also prepares students to apply their skills to real-life practice. This program creates an exceptional balance among academic preparation, practical application, and the spiritual growth required for achieving a successful career.
Why Behavioral Health & Rehabilitation?
The Department of Behavioral Health & Rehabilitation provides a firm foundation and understanding of the principles, concepts, theories, and practices associated with behavioral health. This program develops leadership and critical thinking skills in students that are grounded in participation in the mission of God in the community.
Why Missional University?
Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation Studies at Missional University are based on the six core values of the University.
Biblically Based:
The Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation program is biblically-based because it prepares students to apply their Christian worldview to the realities of society and its many challenges.
Missionally Driven:
The Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation program is grounded in the mission of God through its emphasis on providing services beyond the scope of the traditional church setting.
Interculturally Focused:
The Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation programs focus on the issues of the equitable treatment of everyone. Behavioral Health issues can change among differing cultures. Therefore, students will be prepared to address issues and work across cultural lines to meet the needs of the people they serve.
Contextually Informed:
The Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation program is contextually based on learning through theories and application. Students will be exposed to case studies etc., that foster discussion and learning and return to their form of practice with the benefit of what they learning.
Practically Minded:
The Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation program also provides career-enhancing opportunities through a practicum/internship that allows students to gain practical experience by working in a social service agency of their choice. In addition, they augment their educational experience by participating in job shadowing, observing behavioral health professionals and serving as a volunteer in a variety of social service agencies.
Experientially Transformed:
Behavioral Health and Rehabilitation not only focuses on the ideas and concepts that are taught but also gives students the opportunity to apply them in real-life case scenarios etc. There will not only be lectures and studying a textbook – but at Missional University, the student experience is as interactive as possible.
